Version 0.3 Finally Released!
Hello once again!
It has been a while since our last release – 6 months just about, in fact. In these months we've been very hard at work to make some changes to the game to make it play better, feel better, look better and much more. While we're still on that journey, we are finally comfortable with releasing this new version: Alpha Version 0.3!
New in this version is the zoomed out view, giving you a larger screen area and more to see. We have due to this also remade all backgrounds, revamped a lot of UI elements, added new item pop-ups, new dialogue features like name-boxes and dialogue portraits to everyone (yes, everyone!). Major tweaks to the Graveyard area's difficulty, the difficulty of Dancer's earlier phases, the player has more HP (14 instead of the old 10 at start). Dialogue tweaks, graphical tweaks, optimization, a new cutscene and improved story flow and pacing...
There's a lot of new stuff here! Most of our radio-silence this year has been because of the unfinished feel to most of the game until we only recently finished the new GUI and remade backgrounds. Now that those are done (along with everything else we've reworked) we can finally present you this new release!
This will be the last major release in a good while. We are currently finishing up some final systems and content needed for our game pitch (the pitch we show our potential publishing partners), these mainly being the game's weapons and powers (all of them) and their corresponding status-effect systems. Our plan is to be able to put as much awe-inspiring content as possible in our pitch to blow the minds of our potential investors, in the hope of garnering interest and attaining funding. This means that while we will work on the game and revamp old/create new content, we may not update the length of the Itch.io demo for a while.
Our plan is for us to update the game with smaller updates down the line, mostly regarding polishing and the like. We want to let the players of the demo play with our weapons in a sandbox-area too once they're done, but we shall see how that goes. Our focus from here on out is to make the game pitching-ready and attain funding, so that we can start working full time and get paid. This is the perfect time to play the game if you haven't already, or to re-visit it to see how we have progressed!
The game is by no means complete, but after attending an expo and garnering fantastic, positive feedback and having balanced the game regarding some constructive feedback we got, we feel confident that this game feels and looks polished enough for us to move to the next step. Starting a studio is much more than just making a game, and as such we intend to put our all into every aspect of this journey. And we couldn't have gotten this far without all of you! Whether you're a new player or a returning one, we're extremely glad that you took your time to check our game out. It means the world to us, and it may lead to us realizing our dreams.
We are beyond excited for the future of Game Games and Roc (and the world we are creating, we have big plans). From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you all so, so much. We look forward to letting you see our future updates and progress, and to deliver a finished product to you in the future!
